In a proactive move to address the vital issue of female hygiene, the women’s cell at St Agnes College in Mangaluru organized a commendable sanitary pad distribution drive. This initiative, conducted as part of the International Women’s Day activities, aimed to advocate menstrual hygiene and provide support to underprivileged women in the vicinity, specifically those working at construction sites.

The drive garnered significant participation from students across various departments of the college, reflecting a strong sense of solidarity towards promoting women’s health and well-being. By collecting sanitary pads, the event not only served as a practical gesture but also underscored the crucial significance of menstrual hygiene and the collective responsibility of the community in tackling such essential matters.

Following the donation campaign, during the Women’s Week observance, the women’s cell effectively distributed the accumulated sanitary pads to female laborers at three different construction locations in Bendoor, Padil, and Nagori. A total of 700 sanitary napkins were distributed, ensuring these women have access to basic menstrual hygiene necessities regularly.

The personal interaction between the members of the women’s cell and the workers during the distribution process was pivotal in emphasizing the significance of menstrual health. The recipients expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the support extended to them, acknowledging the challenges they often face in accessing such essentials regularly.
